Reliable and genuinely free

Used this as an alternative to paid tools for months now. Reliable, fast, and no hidden paywalls. The article guides on file formats are also surprisingly useful.

Handles all the formats I need

Tried it for converting between a dozen different formats and it handled everything perfectly. Very clean interface, works on mobile too.

Fast, free, and no sign-up required

Converted a batch of PDFs to Word documents in minutes. No account needed, no watermarks, no limits that I ran into. This is exactly what a file converter should be.

behind “genuinely free”

Why reviewers didn't hit a paywall.

Most file tools have drifted into sign-up walls, watermarks and daily limits. Fileformer is funded differently, which is why Ana and Marcus both bring it up.

  1. 01Free core toolsConverters, compressors and PDF tools cost nothing to use.
  2. 02Light ads + optional donationsThat is how it is funded. Nothing is held back behind a monthly fee.
  3. 03Browser-side when possibleMany tools run on your device with no upload round-trip, where the format allows it.
